Living Your True Purpose

Often as we go about our spiritual path, it can be hard to truly live your life’s purpose.  Many times it may feel hard to follow your path when real life situations challenge or block your way.  These challenges pop up to help you understand your life’s true purpose in a deeper way.  Challenges do not mean you have fallen off of your path or that you aren’t living your life’s true purpose.  Challenges suggest that you are being tested, strengthened and experiencing something new and different.  It is important during stressful times to take a moment to breathe and reflect on your life.

It might help you to ponder the below questions as you reflect on your life’s true divine purpose.  Answer from your heart and spirit.  These answers should come easily and not forced.  Be honest with yourself.

  •  What is my true purpose?
  •  Am I having trouble fulfilling my life’s purpose right now?
  • What is blocking me from walking my life’s path?

When making decisions in challenging situations ask yourself:

  •  Which way brings me closer to my divine purpose?
  • Which way takes me away from it?

Ways to boost your spirit and actively achieve your life’s purpose:

  •  What am I doing each day to fulfill my true purpose?
  • What am I doing each day that takes me away from my divine purpose?
  • What feeds my spirit and makes my heart sing?
  • How can I create time in a busy schedule that allows me to do things I love?

Take time each day to do something that boosts your spirit.  Each day you can take a small step towards your life purpose.  Even if you feel your current job or life situation is not matching up with your divine purpose, you can still take small steps each day to balance your life.

Some steps you can take each day are:

  •  Write out your life’s purpose
  • Define what it means to be on your path
  • Meditate
  • Exercise
  • Seek support from like-minded friends
  • Network with others who do what you want to do
  • Find a mentor to help guide you on your path

Currently in my life, I am going through a period where I need to review and reclaim positive choices for myself and my life as it feels like I have led myself astray from where my spirit wants to go just to maintain security and stability. Security and stability in life are important but they do not take the place of following your true purpose or living the life you desire to live.

Many times when life is particularly challenging it can seem downright difficult or even impossible to make a choice and even harder to know if the choice you are about to make is the right one. Right now I am reminding myself that it is ok to stop, take a breath and remember that there are infinite possibilities. Though to be open to the expanse of infinite possibilites, I have to return to a state of peace and love within myself and let go of the chaos that fear and stress can create in my mind and spirit.

In times of change, stress and fear often step in to take over for peace and love. When that happens, inspiration, encouragement and divine guidance often feel blocked or not even available. Take time to return to a place of peace so that you can open up to receive the divine guidance, wisdom and clarity that are waiting for you to make positive choices for your life. Perhaps this article will help you to also see that there are infinite possibilities and limitless choices that you can make that are of your highest good.

One way to live a better life is to make better choices for your life.  These choices are not only about choosing to eat better or exercise more.  These choices are about treating yourself better, accepting that you may want something different out of life than other people want for you, or choosing to express how you feel no matter how other people will respond.    Are you making choices that make your heart sing? Are you making choices in y … Read More

Below are 9 ways to get life back on track when things seem to have gotten off track, or feel like the train has left the station without you.

I take a few moments to stop, breath and really look at what is going on. I take time to evaluate what is really important to me and my life. Most situations are not life or death; most situations simply require breathing room to allow inspiration to return to find a solution.
Most situations that we are so worried about or anxious about pass quickly and before we realize it we are worried and anxious about something else. Can you remember what you were so worried or freaked out about 2 months ago? How about 2 weeks ago? Or even 24 hours ago?

Some ways to pass the time instead of stressful worrying, negative thinking or regret is to:
1. Go for an active walking meditation
2. Go for a long drive where you can sing along with good music
3. Return to nature, find a park, beach, lake, etc to commune with your spirit and the real world around you
4. Find a friend and have some fun laughing, giggling and playing
5. Write out what is stressing you out and burn it, write out what is important and put it in a place you can see it every day
6. Visualize what you really want to be happening in your life
7. Do something creative, whether it is artwork, craft, sand castle, or a new route home.
8. Regain power and control by taking responsibility for your life and how you choose to react to it.
9. Stand in a place of peace within yourself.

Rather than seeking answers outside of yourself, remember that all answers lie within. Sit back, relax and be at peace. Focus your attention on your spirit and let go of all the stress, judgment and negativity you hold about yourself. By returning to a place of love and peace with yourself, you allow your spirit to communicate with you. Being in a place of peace and love, allows your inner wisdom to speak to you in the small voice that tries so hard to talk above the noise of everyday life. Allow yourself moments of stillness, where you commune with yourself rather than communing with the world or seeking out yet another answer from some outside source. Within you is the spirit of all, an infinite spirit, a divine spark of light that holds the key to all that you seek. Open the lock that is held within your heart with love, joy, peace and compassion.

The song below is by Shaina Noll (www.shainanoll.com) called You Can Relax Now from her Songs for the Inner Child CD.  That CD is an awesome resource for anyone who is on a healing journey, I have used it many times when healing others and have found that her voice whispers to the soul better than any other.

Listen to it and allow it to speak to your heart, to your soul.  Sing the words as if you are singing them to your own inner child, your own forgotten self.  You are not separate from the love in your heart, you are not separate from the true beauty that was created the moment you were born.  The divine spark within you still glows strongly. Be at peace and know that you are loved beyond measure.  Be at peace and know that you are loved just as you are.  Regain the peace, hope and assurance that you are an amazing, beautiful creation.  You are loved!

Walk by Faith

Try to walk by faith, even when you cannot see.  There is a plan and a purpose to your life, even if you do not fully realize why you are taking the steps you are in the moment.  Have faith that it is all leading to something better and greater than you can imagine right now.  Perhaps pain and fears are keeping you from seeing the true picture and scope of your life.  Work to let go of the fears, doubts and anger you may feel in moments where you have lost control of your life.  Simple ways to let go of fears are to meditate, pray and do activities that help relieve your stress.  It is hard when faced with challenges to see that beyond today there is a brighter future ahead.  Try to visualize a positive future for yourself, breathing in the hope and truth that God has infinite ways to bless your life and that you can open to receiving them by staying at peace in each moment.  Accept that life has challenges but that each challenge prepares you for something greater.

My husband and I set out on our walk of faith when we moved down to Florida.  In our minds and hearts we thought we were coming to Florida for  purpose and goal we already had in our mind.  Things have turned out quite differently than either of us has imagined, with struggles, challenges and delayed dreams.  At first, we were both very angry with God and wondering why on Earth were we drawn to Florida especially when problems started to occur and finances grew tight.  With the economy on a downward spiral at the moment we arrived in Florida, it was a bleak sight ahead without jobs or other means to support ourselves.  As we continued to walk with faith, we helped others to heal and feel empowered.

While not necessarily achieving the goals we had in mind, we were able to still continue to help others while we struggled.  This helped to broaden our own awareness and keep the focus off of our own challenges.  Taking your mind off of yourself and your own life helps you to realize that there is more going on and that you aren’t as helpless as you pretend to be.  Your mind and fears want to trap you in feeling helpless so that your soul and light don’t shine.

Over a year ago, we could not have understood the paths that God was laying out for us or why there would have been new roads placed that weren’t on the map.  These new roads are allowing for greater opportunities and chances for growth both professionally and personally.  While we may have mastered many of the tools we use for healing others, there is still a lot to learn and prepare for in order to help the maximum amount of people.  By expanding ourselves in the way God has planned, we find new blessings, new purpose and new dreams.

It is not always about what you have planned, it is about the higher plan that can’t always been seen.  Allow your heart and spirit to expand outward to embrace the unseen plan.  Embrace the path that is unseen with faith, hope and assurance that you do not walk your path alone.  God is always with you, by your side, holding your hand with reassurance that you are fully supported, fully covered in love and there are miracles and blessings in store that you cannot imagine yet.

Picture Perfect Holidays

Holidays making you feel stressed out and overwhelmed?

SLOW DOWN!

Remember to breath and live in each moment.  You don’t have to make each day or moment of the holidays perfect.  Lower your expectations of how the ‘picture perfect’ holiday season should be and remember the true meaning of why we choose to celebrate at all.  Celebrate the love that is shared when you gather together with family & friends.  Celebrate the simple joy of taking the time to create a holiday tradition with your children – whether it is baking sugar cookies, singing songs or playing games together.

You won’t remember the ‘perfect’ things about the holidays – you will remember the love in your heart, the love shining in your family and friends eyes and how much fun you had just being together.

Into the Void

The past few days I have been getting a glimpse of something that I can’t quite put my finger on. Change is a foot all around us as we begin the slow crawl towards spring, though maybe some can’t tell that now with all of the snow around the country again and more on its way.  This year living in Jackonsville, there hasn’t been any snow but the weather changes have been very severe these last couple of weeks.

Overall the weather pressure and full moon seem to reflect the inner and outer pressures that seem to surround daily life, everywhere I look at work or around shopping everyone is under so much stress and appears to be so pressurized that they are about to explode at any second. Many times I catch myself riding with this high pressure, feeling the intense emotions that so many are feeling, stressed beyond words, moved to tears or rage that I scream in my car on the drive home from work.

Last night a gift was given to me to see what lies beneath the high pressured emotions that are circling around the Earth at this time, there is also a space of clearing and relief. A void hiding underneath all of the chaos is waiting, simply waiting to be entered. All I can see within the void is a small spark of light, nothing more and nothing less. It is a space of calm, peace, surrounded in an earthly darkness, like an enveloping cave or a mother’s arms.

Today at work I tried out the void many times, each time I felt like I was being carried away with the wave of high pressure, I entered the void and touched the spark within. As soon as I remembered the void, I was calm, peaceful, almost joyful and content. Each time I returned back to the void I felt the light within me grow, my own security and confidence return. This is a space of creation for the spring and what is to come.

The void waits for each one to enter and create what they need, to leave the mundane world and worries behind that are not real or even tangible, they don’t belong to spirit or to heart. Allow yourself to be taken into the void and see the light within.

When I get into moments of stress, or am angering easily I work on stopping in the moment and really looking to see if I am reacting to what is going on around me presently, creating the emotion in the present or merely re-creating or recycling an emotion and reaction from the past.  Sometimes trigger responses come so easily out of habit and our minds just don’t catch up to realize that we no longer have to react the same way.  Each moment we can create our response freely without ties to the past.

What helps me to deal with hard emotions is to take a moment and breath in a deep breath.  In that moment, really look to see what you are reacting to in the moment.  I ask myself “Are your emotions really true for what is happening or are they more a routine reaction to something that had occurred in the past?”

Many times we will react to situations a certain way because we have trained ourselves to react that way – out of fear, anger, sadness, withdrawal, etc.  It is important to look at the moment you started to feel the emotion to see if it is accurate to what is really going on or merely a response you are used to having.

If you find it is tied to something from the past, take the time to look back and see what happened to cause this repetitive response in the first place.  That situation is what needs to be healed, learned from and let go of so you will no longer be controlled by it but free to be at peace again.

If the emotion is truly valid for the current present moment, look to see what you are reacting to.  Ask yourself if you need to continue to be in pain or can you do something constructive about the emotions so you no longer have to suffer.  Many times our mind or ego will react out of fear when it does not understand what is going on, feels betrayed, hurt or confused.  These emotions are all right to be felt, but they do not need to be held onto and only prevent real action from taking place to move you from a place of hurt into a place of peace and joy.

Know that you can always break free from the past, break free from the routines and habits that keep your suffering and without peace.  Everytime you decide to stop, look at the present moment and choose peace over the habit of fear or anger, is an opportunity to create a new habit of peace, a new habit of love. Stop the cycle of suffering now.

Choose love over fear. You can do it!
